Dr. Vivian Khouri, B.Sc., D.D.S. grew up in nearby Elmsdale, Nova Scotia. She attended Dalhousie University as a biology major and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. She continued on to study at the Dalhousie Dental School, earning her dentistry degree in 2003. She began practicing as a dentist in a hospital clinic in the small outport community of Twillingate, Newfoundland. Although a rich and rewarding start to her career, Vivian was drawn back to her home province three years later to join Dr. Townshend and Dr. Albert at Hammond Dental Centre.
Vivian offers her patients a complete range of dental care, from general restorations to cosmetic dentistry and dental implants. She has a passion for continually advancing her skills in order to deliver to her patients the best that dentistry has to offer. She is currently a member of the Kois Centre in Seattle, Washington where she attends advanced courses annually to learn about the latest advances in dentistry and to enhance patient care.
Vivian serves as a volunteer on the Communications Committee for the Nova Scotia Dental Association and was awarded the 2014 Volunteer of the Year for her contribution in updating the Infection Control Guidelines used by dentists across Nova Scotia. She is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Halifax County Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Pankey Study Club and the RV Tucker Gold Study Club. She has served as a part-time clinical instructor at the Dalhousie Dental School and has made talk-show appearances where she has discussed oral hygiene and oral care issues.
Vivian is actively involved with the Ivar Mendez Foundation and has traveled to rural Bolivia on a humanitarian trip to teach oral health skills and to treat impoverished children.
When not practicing dentistry, Vivian enjoys spending quality time with her husband and family. She enjoys reading, cooking, travelling and seeking out new activities to experience and new venues to explore.
“I take pride in providing the highest quality of care to my patients. My personal and professional goal is to strengthen the dental profession as a whole and to ultimately strengthen each patient’s trust and confidence in the care they are receiving.” –Vivian Khouri
