Dr. Melanie Dominic grew up in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She attended Dalhousie University graduating with her Biology degree in 2005, and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2009. She was a research student during each summer of dental school with a keen passion for dental materials. During her final year at Dalhousie, she participated in the Advanced Restorative Techniques (ART) Elective, meeting Dr. Townshend who was her clinical instructor. This course peaked a special interest in crown, esthetic and implant dentistry. Years later, Kilby and Melanie feel fortunate to have reconnected as colleagues.
After graduating, Melanie practiced five years in St. John’s, Newfoundland and three years in Calgary, Alberta, before moving back home to Nova Scotia to raise her young family. These years away provided her with an excellent clinical experience in both rural and metropolitan settings. She now resides in Bedford, Nova Scotia and feels very honored to be joining the team at Hammond Dental Centre and working alongside Drs. Albert, Khouri and Townshend.
Melanie enjoys all aspects of general and family dentistry with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and Invisalign® orthodontics. She focuses on meeting patient goals while providing the highest level of comprehensive dentistry. She enjoys treating patients of all ages, and developing strong relationships with each of them. Melanie is known for her smile, laugh and easygoing nature, which has a way of making her patients feel comfortable.
Melanie continues to engage in ongoing dental education to further her knowledge and skillset. She is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Nova Scotia Dental Association, the Halifax County Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the R.V Tucker Study Club and Invisalign® Study Club.
